Mountain Village's Budding Infrastructure is in Full
Bloom
What do a grocery store, liquor store, shipping store,
post office and government offices all have in common? Easy, they
are all located in the new 14,000 sq. ft. Market at Mountain Village
building and plaza.
For a community that’s only officially been
incorporated since 1995, the rapidly evolving infrastructure marks
enormous milestones for the young town, as well as tremendous steps
for the entire region.
As the biggest of the new infrastructure additions,
The Market at Mountain Village is a fullservice, practical and gourmet
market that adds a level of convenience never before experienced
by Mountain Village residents and visitors. Additionally, it provides
another grocery shopping option for Telluride and regional residents.
The convenient location at the Gondola parking station makes shopping
easy for both pedestrians and those arriving by car. Many Mountain
Village residents can stroll from their homes to The Market, those
coming from the Village Center or Telluride can ride the Gondola,
while drivers have a spacious on-site parking lot.
“Having a sophisticated grocery store makes
Mountain Village more of an independent community,” says TREC
managing director Buzz Fedorka. “It makes us more localized
so we don’t have to shop elsewhere and by providing more options
for locals and tourists, it enriches the entire Telluride community.”
Fedorka particularly raved about the array of ethnic
cuisine, premium meat selection and the deli, run by Aemono Fine
Foods. Aemono provides pre-made salads/dishes, fine cheeses and
cold-cut meats available by the pound, made-toorder sandwiches,
pizza-by-the-slice and soups, roasted chickens and other entrées
like salmon and pork tenderloin, pasta dishes, and desserts.
“The deli provides a quick and convenient option
for picking up lunch or dinner and it’s the only deli of its
kind in the area,” said Aemono owners Sophia Kyriakakis and
Mike Guskea.
The town of Mountain Village subsidizes The Market,
having built the facility and now leasing it at an affordable rate
to market owners, Mike Lawler and Darrin Hill. This allows Hill
and Lawler to maintain a high-end inventory at reasonable price
levels.
A new shipping store, High Country
Shipping, is also open next door to The Market,
providing a wealth of services to residents and
visitors.
“As another wonderful service for Mountain Village, these
things are just as important as bike and walking paths,” said
Fedorka. “They make us more self-sufficient.”
Owned by Dave Doemland, High Country Shipping takes care of people’s
copying, faxing, packing and shipping needs. In addition, the store
ships/receives luggage — visitors can ship skis, boots and
other bags ahead of time and it will be delivered to their respective
lodging establishments upon arrival. On the return, bags are picked
up and shipped home. The service has been very well received and
Doemland said he’s linked with most hotels and management
companies. High Country Shipping also ships/receives large items,
like furniture, although the space doesn’t currently allow
for extensive storage of such oversized packages.
“The entire venture is working very well so far,”
said Doemland. “Mountain Village approached me to say there
was a need for this type of service in the community and I think
its providing great things for locals and tourists. We’ve
been very busy.”
Mountain Village also relocated its post office to a bigger and
more efficient location in The Market building and its government
offices also have a new and improved home above The Market.
Come, see for yourself and enjoy!
Rosewood Telluride
In late September, The Honigman Group announced that
the internationally acclaimed Rosewood Hotels & Resorts of Dallas,
Texas will operate and manage its $200 plus million

hotel to bear its own corporate name—Rosewood Telluride. Telluride

and sales of the exclusive residential product. Rosewood Telluride
is presently in the planning and approval process and expects to
feature 75 resort guest rooms and 65 luxury condominiums and townhomes.
Located on Country Club Drive, adjacent to the first tee box of
the Telluride Championship Golf Course, with direct trailside access,
all rooms will have unparalleled views of the Wilson Range with
a significant number of residences having additional and extraordinary
vistas of the San Sophia Ridge. Amenities will include a fine dining
restaurant, casual après ski restaurant/bar, pool terrace,
12,000-squarefoot spa/fitness facility, meeting spaces, and upscale

scheduled for spring 2009.
TREC’s Contribution to the Local Community
Each year, TREC gives back to the Telluride community
by contributing thousands of dollars to its special area of philanthropy:
the youth. Through its focus on children, TREC supports a variety
of educational, athletic and social programs for students in the
Telluride region. We have contributed to everything from soccer
clubs to after-prom parties as well as providing college scholarships
to local graduates.
Telluride Real Estate Corporation is committed to
the
ongoing success of youth activities and sports programs. and is
proud to sponsor the Telluride High School cheerleading squad by
making a generous $500 contribution toward the purchase of new work-out/warm-up
uniforms. “Since we represent our school, we wanted to create
a more professional team appearance while traveling and competing,”
said assistant coach Roxie Horner. “TREC helped make that
happen.” The 19 girls on the squad have had a tremendous season
this year, which included competing on both regional and state levels.
Results from the regional and state competitions weren’t available
at press time but if strong enough, the team could potentially qualify
to partake in a nationallevel competition. The THS team is coached
by Liza DiGiglio Huet and assisted by Horner
TREC BROKERS HONORED AT TAR GALA
The Telluride Association of Realtors annual gala
banquet was held in September at the Telluride Conference Center.
The purpose of the 200-person event was to recognize TAR members’
continued contributions to the community. Of the 10 awards given,
five were presented to TREC brokers and as a whole, the company
received more total accolades than any other brokerage house.
